The crash occurred on Saturday, June 4, at 7:46 p.m. along the parkway southbound at milepost 81.4 in Toms River, a New Jersey State Police spokesman said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Explorer was traveling south in the left lane followed by a Harley-Davidson MC, operated by Ronald McGinness Jr., according to Sgt. Philip Curry.

The Harley-Davidson MC overturned and struck the rear of the Ford, Currey said.

As a result of the crash, McGinness suffered serious injuries, he said.
